ZZ Top released a new album yesterday. It is called La Futura. I have to say that I was worried after I heard the EP earlier this year. The songs didn't sound that fresh or interesting. Kind of sounded the same. Really sounded like Eliminator and let's face it, this isn't 1983. So when I started listening last night to the whole CD, I was pleasantly surprised. The album gets back to the Boys roots. Great bluesy sounds. Growling lead guitar. Thumping bass from Dusty. Drums from Frank keep the rhythm perfectly paced. If I have to say the guitarist's name, just quit reading now. :) Heartache in Blue brings to mind the blues riffs from ZZ's First Album and Big Shiny Nine, well let's just say Pearl Necklace is a good song. I can listen to this for a long time and trust me, it will definitely be playing when the smoker is going. This new ZZ Top CD is the perfect music to BBQ by while drinking a cold beer. Like the Reverend says, " Ease up on the sauce and heavy on the meat."
Keep on Smokin!
